1. Phi-1.5: Microsoft’s 1.3B parameter AI model beats llama2–7b in benchmarks
A dedicated research team at Microsoft introduces phi-1.5, a 1.3 billion parameter model trained on a massive dataset of 30 billion tokens that remarkably achieves performance comparable to models five times its size.
Specifically, in common sense reasoning and verbal ability, phi-1.5 performed comparably to the other models. Meanwhile, in multi-step reasoning, it far outperformed the other major models.
phi-1.5 shows the ability to do “step-by-step reasoning” or some basic contextual learning that many large models have.

2. LINGO-1: Getting self-driving cars to narrate how they drive
Wayve recently introduced LINGO-1, a Large Language model (LLM) of self-driving interaction based on Visual Linguistic Action Macromodels (VLAMs), which deeply integrates macromodels and self-driving.
With LINGO-1, an autonomous vehicle now can“speak its mind” by using natural language.
Wayve added in its post, “As we push the boundaries of what’s possible with embodied AI, vision-language-action models may have an enormous impact, as the language provides a new modality to enhance how we interpret, explain and train our foundation driving models.”

3. A boy suffering chronic pain for over 3 years, ChatGPT Provides Sensible Diagnosis
Alex, a 4-year-old boy, suffered from chronic pain. He saw 17 doctors in over 3 years. He was finally diagnosed through ChatGPT.
After a certain exercise session, Alex’s body began to suffer from severe pain. His mother took him to 17 doctors, ranging from pediatrics to orthopedics to various specialists, and underwent a series of tests such as MRI, but none of them really identified the cause.
Without much hope, his mother tried to get help from ChatGPT, which immediately gave the right advice based on the description and test reports.
With this conclusion and Alex’s MRI report, Alex’s mother found a neurosurgeon. The doctor took one look at the MRI and came to the same conclusion as ChatGPT.
Alex then underwent surgery and is currently recovering.
